Day Twenty Seven: The Blue Ridge Parkway

The Blue Ridge Parkway is a long windy road that starts in Virginia and ends in the mountains. We were just driving on the last bit of it. It was still very beautiful and enjoyable drive. There was a really nice spot at a restaurant for lunch, called the Pisgah Inn with good views.

It would be fun to ride one of these

Yay it's a beautiful day!

We found ourselves driving through the mountains and suddenly we were in a town. A town full of touristy shops, activities and even an aquarium. It was a little tacky but still a lot of fun walking around and seeing all the shops and sights. Finally we found out we were in Gatlinburg. A town near the Smokey Mountains National Park. It was very busy and seemed like a popular destination.

Want a beer?

However it was starting to pour with rain. We wanted to get to our hotel so we hit the road again and made our way towards our accommodation for the night. Now we found ourselves in Pigeon Forge. There was a gigantic Titanic, many mini golf places, dinner shows and restaurants. Definitely a place to come back to.

Watch out for the iceberg!!

A dinner show of some sort.
Our hotel was the Clarion Inn Willow River. It was a nice hotel albeit a little bit further out than we would prefer. It was Gone With the Wind Themed. There were pictures of the actors all over the hotel. The style was like the house in the movie. Of course more modern. Our room is great. There is a spa bath and a balcony. A really lovely place to stay.

Heng and I were hungry however so we ventured out for dinner. I am not the biggest fan of red meat but sometimes I feel like some so we decided to try a local steakhouse chain. It was really good. The food was tasty, the service fantastic and the price reasonable. We were tired from all the driving otherwise we would have been tempted to play some mini golf. Instead we returned to enjoy our hotel for the evening.
