Today was another day of ominous clouds on the horizon but
that didn’t stop us from heading to Central Park. We had been sightseeing full
on for days now so Laura was in need of a rest so Heng and I remained in
Central Park while she headed back to the hotel. Central Park really is such a
lush green landscape in the middle of a city. There are so many places that
rent out bicycles for you to ride. It would be nice to ride around on a bicycle
as the park is huge but we decided today to have a walk.

Once we had finished exploring we began our walk back into
the city. On the way we stopped at some fun locations. Firstly FAO Schwarz the
famous toy store. I always thought the building would be more impressive from
the outside but they still had the doormen in soldier outfits. The inside was
filled with ridiculously large stuffed animals and toys and sweets to tempt any
child (possibly a few adults too). Of course there was also the Big Piano that
you can walk on as well.

We went back to the Rockefeller Centre for a second time for
me to rest my feet. The NBC store is there as well so we took this opportunity
to browse. It then began to bucket down with rain. However we were determined
to move on despite lacking an umbrella. We ducked into the Magnolia Bakery for
a delicious cupcake and walked quickly and found refuge in the Nintendo store.

I amused myself playing Mario on the DS while Heng browsed
the store. The summer showers don’t last for long and finally we were on our
way rain free heading to Times Square and the Hershey Store, which is of course
a sugar overload!! Then we split up. Heng went to Toys R Us, which has a huge
Ferris Wheel and I am sure lots of toys as well. I went to meet Laura at Macy’s
the huge department store for some retail therapy.

Now it was time for some Kinky Boots!! When planning this
trip we knew we had to go and see a Broadway Show and Kinky Boots was the one
we chose. It was great!! Some fun and sad moments as well as colourful costumes
and excellent set design. We all came out saying it was worth seeing.
It was time for a late dinner at an Italian place near our
hotel. The food was good and the evening ended well.
